The message

This July 24th and 25th — Shabbat Nachamu, the Shabbat of Comfort — Jews everywhere are sitting down together. Friday night dinner or Saturday lunch. Either one counts. Here’s the whole ask: set one more place at your table. Invite someone who wouldn’t otherwise have a Shabbos meal. And if you get invited… go. We need each other right now. More love. More warmth. That’s the movement.

Set one more place.

About the movement

Set One More Place began with one simple idea from Mendy Fensterszaub: after Tisha B’Av, as mourning turns to comfort on Shabbat Nachamu, every Jewish table sets one more place for someone who would otherwise not be there. No politics, no prerequisites, no labels. One people, one table at a time. In its first ten days the movement spread from the United States through Europe and across Israel, joined by chief rabbis, historians, innovators, artists and families of every background.

As featured in The Times of Israel and echoed across the Jewish world:

No dress code. No prerequisites. Just one more chair.

The wave launches Thursday across Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube — and rolls daily until July 24. Keep the videos coming through the tools on this page, and keep to the messaging you see here. This site is the canon.

Make Your Video

  1. Film yourself on your phone — no lighting, no editing, no script needed.
  2. Say “Shabbat Shalom,” then the moment: July 24th and 25th — one International Shabbat of Peace, everywhere.
  3. Make your ask on camera: you’re setting one more place at your table, and invite someone who needs a seat. (Been invited? Say yes and go.)
  4. Tag 3 friends by name and challenge them to do the same.
  5. Post your video with all five hashtags: #SetOneMorePlace #ShabbatShalom #ShabbatOfPeace #שבת_אחדות #שבתשלום

You tag three. They tag three. That’s the whole machine.

Need a script? Use one of ours…

You don’t need one — but if you want a running start, here are ten. Pick the voice that sounds like you and make it yours.

One more place makes the table whole.
